As an experienced visual storyteller I can turn complex ideas and stories into accessible, emotionally engaging images. My neurodivergent thinking helps me bring fresh energy and perspective to a wide range of projects inc 60 picturebooks, bringing a marketing story to life for a major paint brand, designing / illustrating community led events & assets and scriptwriting for live theatre. All with a common theme of expressive characterisation through humour and emotion with simple, dynamic composition & curation, and a keen attention to detail.
The images I create evolve through experimental play with analogue materials, a feeling and a vague idea of context. In love with handmade, imperfect collage, painting and drawing, I work to keep this at the core of my practice — whether as ideation, final application, simply play for my own projects or in collaboration with others. My core themes nestle between human connection, emotional resonance and self-expression — championing and celebrating the individuality and diversity of each one of us, and the stories that emerge through interaction.
“Working quickly with materials I enjoy can open up new possibilities and potential story ideas”
A selection of images that reflect the core of my practice. A love of texture, composition and shape, created in response to a commercial career as an illustrator working to brief. I tend to work on a small scale due to logistics of my studio space, the immediacy and accessibility needed when working in between paid projects, but also wanting to stay intimate with my work so most of these images are 15cm x 21cm.
